Human Electric Power

We all know it takes fuel to generate electricity: coal, gas, oil, biomass, wind, water, solar. At the Ozarks New Energy Conference reception Friday night, February 22, at the Discovery Center, you can see another source of power in motion.

Human beings, riding bicycles hooked up to a generating unit supplied by Power Source Solar, Springfield, will produce electricity to power a Discovery Center exhibit.

Thanks to Mike and Dan Chiles of Watts Radiant for supplying the bikes; to Power Source Solar for the generator; to Terry Whaley, executive director of Ozark Greenways, for supplying volunteers; and to Charlotte McCoy, marketing director of the Discovery Center, for providing a display to be hooked up to the generator.
